I do not know about you, but for me my first blog is a big deal. It took me about 4-5 hours to write a small paragraph on paper that really did not serve any purpose at all.
So I thought I should help people who think of writing their first blog by giving them advice I wish I had before starting putting pen to paper! There are some simple questions that in answering them will make writing your first post quicker and more complete.
1) Who / what am I?
Perhaps the most important thing is the person you are outside of a soulless e-page. In your first blog, tell some things about yourself, your interests or your work. Sharing your inspiration and what makes you smile.
So I guess that my homepage is my introduction to myself. A seasoned, multi-cultured and multilingual marketer who likes hard numbers but also enjoys the creative part of life. Check my homepage introduction here.
2) What are the issues to be addressed in your first blog?
Responding to this question, you enable all people who will stumble upon your first blog page to become interested in you and remain faithful to you – even when your content is poor in its early days.
So… The issues that I will be addressing in my blog will be of a marketing nature and plenty of personal improvement things. I will also add a professional portfolio page, containing some case studies of what I have done in the past and how I overcame issues or put processes in place to make life easier – I just like to work smart and I will work hard to get to that point!
3) Why did I start?
Sharing the motivations that led you to start blogging is a great way to get people to know you on a deeper level, as well as introduce more about yourself.
With this said, I thought it would be a good idea to get all of my portfolio in one place to showcase it during interviews, but to also remind myself where I have been, what I have done and where I want to go. And also get some thoughts of mine out there during this process.
4) Why should someone keep reading my blog?
There are many blogs out there that talk about the same subjects and give the same solutions in different words – some actually sell you stuff as well in a subtle way! But they are not all the same, even if they have the same theme. This is because they are made by different people … the difference, that competitive advantage of yours is you.
So this blog is different from others because it is actually not a blog. It is a portfolio showcase firstly and then a blog. I have 10 years of marketing experience and i have been there from the start of e-commerce up until all the changes – offline to online, 4Ps to 7Ps, SEO to SEM, AI, Chatbots, the lot. I have helped companies to generate millions of pounds and increase sales pipelines – so I want people to know how proud I am for all I have achieved and be as excited as I am for where I want to head towards in the future.
5) Do you want to communicate with your readers?
If so, then the end of your post is the right place to urge them to leave comments or answer a question.
So, I guess that you are welcome to leave a comment or contact me via the contact form! Or you can message me on my Linkedin here.
Finally, before uploading your article, take a quick look at your spelling, choose a nice title and a photo to match the content and you are ready … Good luck, welcome to my page and thank you for taking time to read my story!
Very interesting read, you made it sound “cool” and easy. My advice would be to decide what your main focus is, either Portfolio led or just a personal blog. Thanks

Thank you Helena for the feedback, it is much appreciated. Indeed, my main focus is my marketing portfolio on a split of 90%-10%. I am a firm believer of showcasing your personality as well on your blogs and, therefore, I should be posting things and causes I support outside working hours, too.
If you would like to talk further, please connect with me via Linkedin or send me a PM with your email and any further feedback you might have.
Thank you for your time 🙂
